Tui Na Massage:

Tui Na Massage Tui Na Massage

What is Tui Na?

Tui Na massage is an integral part of traditional Chinese medicine and is a kind a deep tissue massage . It is often used alongside acupuncture to provide a holistic treatment for mind and body. Instead of acupuncture needles, practitioners use their hands to stimulate key meridian points in the body to relieve tension and unblock the body’s Qi, or natural energy. Doing this activates the body’s own healing process and allows for improved circulation and blood flow to carry away the damaged tissue and toxins. Different pressure and speed is applied to different areas of the body. Some techniques offer manipulation and deep tissue massage to relieve knots and specific areas of tension. Softer pressure can also be applied for a more gentle and relaxing experience.

Tui Na massage can be used to treat clients with the following symptoms: back pain, repetitive syndromes, sport issues, syndrome, sciatica, fibromyalgia, stress and anxiety.

How does the treatment work?

Tui Na is an intense massage and can occasionally cause minor bruising. I normally combine Tui Na with other modalities such as acupuncture, cupping, myofascial release or Trigger Points. It is possible at times, that needles cannot be inserted and a manipulation is needed to reach a particular point as in the treatment of the shoulder. The number of treatments varies according to each patient’s individual needs and the severity of the condition but usually few follow-up sessions are needed to properly address the issue and prevent its recurrence. You should start to feel some relief immediately after treatment. The effects can last for several days. Sessions usually last 25 minutes.
